Job Details

The Meteor is a brand new UK news blog, with a humorous twist, hitting the UK soon. We require a few different types of individual:

  • Reporters to find and write up original news stories - on anything from politics to the media, and new technology to agricultural scandals. Whatever you can get your hands on.
  • Writers to put a humorous spin on news stories broken elsewhere.
  • Photographers to provide some pictorial accompaniment.
  • Cartoonists to unleash their creativity on the news.
The Meteor has no budget spare (already spent on a website), and no physical premises, so you'll be working from home and keeping in contact over the net. Reporters and photographers will find their way to the news any way they wish, so long as it isn't copied from the homepage of the Guardian. Due to the nature of the planned content of the site (news), some of these roles might suit those hoping to break into journalism, or currently on a journalism course, and present an opportunity to hone your skills. However, all applications will be given fair consideration. Though there'll be no whiff of a salary, this is a still a platform, so please don't compare us to the Huffington Post.

Closing Date: 28 August 2011
