Public Affairs Officer

Working For:  Arqiva

Reports to: Head of Public Affairs

Purpose:

Responsible for day-to-day research and advice on political and parliamentary issues and contribute to relevant communications projects in support of Arqiva's public affairs activities. To develop briefings, presentations and reports, as well as research for correspondence in support of political communications. Monitor relevant debates and committees in both theWestminsterparliament and the devolved assemblies, providing reports, analysis and intelligence.

Skills/Competencies:

  • A clear understanding of the Parliamentary and legislative process.
  • Sharp news sense and a strong appetite for a broad range of media.
  • Analytical mind able to cut through complex issues to see the big picture.
  • Self-motivation and direction, flexible and enthusiastic about working across a range of issues.

Technical Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years experience in a political environment, either working within Parliament, in a public affairs agency or 'in house'.
  • Strong experience and understanding of broadcasting policy, telecommunications or spectrum issues is essential.
  • Experience of database management is desirable.
  • Experience of operating effectively in a complex environment with multiple agendas and stakeholders.

Personal Qualities:

A strong team player.
