Joan Walley is a busy and hard working Member of Parliament who is offering a voluntary internship position in her Westminster office.

The focus of her Parliamentary time includes the environment, regeneration and sport, but a typical day may include any policy area.

The internship is a voluntary learning experience which will involve playing an active role in the office. The experience may include:

supporting the Parliamentary Researcher on research papers, drafting letters, developing briefing papers and conducting research where required, developing and designing communications to be sent to constituents.

You may also be asked to help with administrative tasks, including:

• opening post
• assisting with filing and office management
• management of constituency databases and correspondence with constituents.

The successful candidate should have:

• An interest in the political process
• A genuine interest in good public policy development
• Good office and IT Skills
• The ability to self start, organise and prioritise work
• Sympathy for the aims and values of social justice and democratic engagement
