NK News is the most comprehensive North Korea related news aggregation and information source online. Designed for professionals, academics and students working in the area, the site has significant traffic and a readership that includes some of the most well-known North Korea / N.E Asia watchers in the world. In addition, many embassies, UN agencies and foreign offices are signed up to the mailing list. Foreign Embassies based in Pyongyang, the Congressional Research Service, the State Department and White House are all among the readers.

MEDIA MONITORING AND ANALYSIS INTERNSHIP (2 positions available - both include writing opportunities)

Each business day this site is updated with North Korea related news clippings, comment and analysis. In addition, subject relevant event listings, opportunities and announcements are also listed. The site also provides readers with unique content such as analysis, news articles from sources within North Korea, interviews and the provision of research articles. We are currently looking for 1 or 2 English language speaking interns to help daily operations. This position would be great for someone who is already employed full or part-time and looking to contribute a 2-3 hours per day in an area of interest to them.

Duties will include:
• Monitoring of English language news and analysis pertaining to the DPRK to assist in the production of the “Daily Update” service
• Devising questions for website polls, analyzing responses and presenting findings in news articles
• Authoring of unique content for the ‘Featured Content’ section of the website, including analysis, articles and research pieces (dependent on subject knowledge)
• Posting of news stories to NKNews.org website and formatting news clippings correctly for the Daily Update service
• Monitoring of job websites for professional DPRK related opportunities to include on the website
• “Seeding” of social media assets with interesting content on a daily basis

Experience:
• Excellent English language skills
• Demonstrable interest in North Korea
• Fine attention to detail
• Experience in working with social media
• Ability to contribute at least two hours of work per working day for core duties
• Undergraduate degree in the field of International Relations/International Security/Media/ Journalism
• Has Computer & Internet access
• Can commit to at least three months (preferably six)
• Experience using WordPress (desirable)
• Image manipulation experience (desirable)
• Academic or professional writing experience on North Korea (desirable)
• Knowledge of N.E Asian English language news outlets (desirable)
