Girlguiding UK is recruiting a Public Affairs Officer, reporting to the PR and Public Affairs Manager in the Marketing and Communications department.
The successful applicant will assist the PR and Public Affairs Manager with identifying and analysing relevant trends in public and political policy. He or she will develop and maintain contacts with parliamentarians’ researchers, appropriate civil service and local government contacts and counterparts in partner organisations. The job holder will work with staff, volunteers and partners to develop and deliver advocacy work that fulfils Girlguiding UK’s aims, as well as assisting with the planning and organisation of stakeholder events including Girlguiding UK’s presence at relevant conferences.
The post holder must have experience of working in policy and/or public affairs, including contact with external stakeholder organisations and knowledge of the structures and working practices of Parliament, Whitehall, local government and the devolved institutions as well as experience of managing projects. He or She must be able to work proactively on own their initiative and work under pressure to deadlines.
