Job Title:
Writers
Working For:
Left Central
Location:
Internet
Salary:
Voluntary

Job Details:

LeftCentral welcomes contributions from anyone with expertise, insight and an ability to write engagingly about politics. Anonymous contributions are welcome; many of our contributors work in politically-sensitive jobs and therefore prefer not to be identified.

If you are thinking of writing an article for LeftCentral, you may want to run the idea past the editors first. However, this is not necessary; we are happy to read full articles. But please ensure all submissions are thoroughly proofread.

We value evidence-based articles, but also encourage contributing authors to write passionately about issues they care about – although polemical and gratuitous writing should be avoided. Most people like to contribute opinion articles.

Hyperlinks are absolutely vital: links to sources, news items and further reading enhance both the credibility of authors and the experience of readers. Include an image with a creative commons license, and provide a link so we can check this.

Submissions should be of 300-500 words as a guideline. It is more important, however, to use as many words as you feel necessary to succinctly carry your argument across. Remember that a concise, to-the-point article is more likely to be read by a larger audience.

Interview/Start Dates:

Recruitment is ongoing.

How to apply:

There is no formalised recruitment process for LeftCentral ‘regulars’. But we are happy to review informal applications in this regard – send a CV and two or three examples of your writing to the editors leftcentral@live.co.uk. Otherwise, simply send your submissions to that email address for them to be reviewed by the editors.
