We are looking for a talented Policy Officer with a passion for contributing to change for people and their neighbourhoods. Based in our Strategic Policy and Research Team, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of public policy analysts, social researchers and public affairs staff who inform our corporate planning and our service provision and promote Newham’s vision locally, regionally and nationally.
You will work with the team to develop and deliver an innovate programme of work to ensure that Newham is at the cutting edge of policy developments to address our residents’ multiple needs. You will be ‘horizon scanning’ for new ideas, responding to how current policy developments affect Newham, liaising with policy influencers, from think tanks to community groups, contributing to policy-led research and turning your knowledge into useful policy briefs to inform strategic direction and service area delivery. You will work closely with our directly elected Mayor, Elected Members and senior staff writing speeches and offering policy advice
It is essential that you can work in multidisciplinary teams, are aware of the national and local policy landscape and have a user’s eye for how to communicate complex national policy and research into a meaningful local brief.
