The Events and Conference Manager is responsible for overseeing and delivering the SMF’s entire party conference and Westminster events programme. Reporting to the Director, the post holder will be expected to work closely with all members of the SMF team and represent the think tank to sponsors and event speakers.
Play a full and active part of the SMF’s Senior Management TeamWork with the Director and other SMF staff to draw up a potential programme of topical, timely and high profile debates
Proactively identify and approach potential sponsors for seminars and party conference events
Maintain a broad overview of Parliamentary and other business to ensure SMF events are well attended and do not clash with others
Meet with potential partners to negotiate and secure sponsorship and the drawing up of sponsorship contracts
Anticipate and manage any risks to the delivery of the events programme and the SMF’s reputation.
Day-to-day management of sponsor relationships, including providing regular updates on project progress, speakers, event marketing etc;
Rigorous project management including: liaison with speakers; dealing with delegate enquiries, registration and management; management of suppliers, negotiation and liaison with venues; booking of accommodation; managing catering and AV facilities;
For the party conference, applying for accreditation to the relevant political parties for SMF staff and speakers; managing the SMF’s multiple venues for fringe events;
Developing a publicity strategy for events and managing the production of promotional material.
Oversee and manage activities on the day(s) of the conference, including organising the despatch and storage at venues of all necessary literature, banners and other materials;
Oversee the allocation and management of staff;
Ensure speakers are in the right place at the right time; Manage question and answer sessions, panel logistics etc.
