Starting out in Policy and Public Affairs?

The Northern Housing Consortium is a non-profit making and non-party political membership organisation. We represent Social housing providers and strategic LAs across the North of England, who between them are responsible for almost 90% of social housing in the North.

Our primary role in supporting our members is ensuring they are aware of and prepared for new policy proposals from Government. We also work to influence policy as it is developing through engaging with politicians, civil servants and key decision makers. Our well regarded Policy and Public Affairs service also leads on cutting edge research to evidence the cumulative impact of government policy. The NHC acts as the secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group for Housing in the North working to raise the profile of housing issues with parliamentarians.

We are looking to expand our Policy and Public Affairs team with the new post of Policy and Public Affairs Assistant. The role would be ideally suited to a graduate interested in pursuing a career in policy, public affairs or communications. It entails providing political monitoring, administration of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Housing in the North, preparation of policy and research papers and administrative/communications support to the Policy team.
