The Labour Party is seeking to recruit a new Director of Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) Political Services. The successful individual will be responsible for ensuring a comprehensive provision and service to Labour MPs and Peers to support their role as the Official Opposition.
This role will require the right candidate to work closely with the Labour Party's Head Office to develop, support and implement the party's political strategy and to ensure comprehensive support is given to the shadow frontbench; will act as Secretary to Shadow Cabinet and weekly PLP meetings; manage the PLP staff providing staff appraisals and development; manage the PLP budget; to provide political briefings to the shadow frontbench as required; and to direct political engagement and campaigns in key policy areas.
You will need substantive management experience and of working with, advising and supporting a variety of senior stakeholders and Labour politicians; knowledge of parliamentary procedures and the rules and guidelines of the House of Commons; knowledge of incumbency campaigning and the process of relationship building with constituents; and experience of devising and implementing political strategies.
