Baroness Worthington is seeking a new assistant to replace her current one. This role is ideal for anyone wishing to gain experience of working in the Houses of Parliament.

The role will involve mostly independent work, although the Baroness is very supportive.  Administrative work will include:

  • Some diary management.
  • Correspondence.
  • Minute taking.
  • Organising meetings and events and booking rooms.
  • Welcoming visitors.
  • Research.
  • Developing knowledge in areas as required.

Ideally candidates will:

  • Possess strong organisational skills.
  • Have attention to detail.
  • Show excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Be able to use Microsoft applications including email.
  • Have knowledge of the parliamentary process.
  • Be very enthusiastic and polite.
  • Have an interest in current affairs, especially relating to energy, the environment and climate change.
  • Have a commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party.

This role is voluntary and no formal working hours will be placed on the successful candidate.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
