Labour MP John Healey is looking for a researcher (part-time, 20 hours a week) to work with him in the Commons.

Excellent writing skills and experience of policy, political or Parliamentary research are required.

Knowledge in areas of economy, housing, health or local government would be an advantage.

The job requires:

  • Carrying out research into local, regional and international issues, ensuring the Member is made aware of any relevant issues
  • Identify any issues to assist the Member in their Parliamentary work

This includes work of a complex nature requiring the job holder to work independently and in liaison with constituency office staff, and to develop and manage relations with senior level contacts inside and outside Parliament.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will be in the House of Commons, Thursday 1 November.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a two-hour research exercise, before their interview, and do a short written exercise directly after the interview on 1 November.
