Christian Wolmar, Britain's leading transport commentator, is bidding to win the Labour nomination for the 2016 London Mayoral election. He believes that London needs a long-term strategic vision worthy of its standing as a global city and wants to use his 20 years' experience writing about transport to deliver a world class transport system for the capital.

To assist with the campaign, the Wolmar for Mayor team are looking to recruit bright and motivated people looking to gain experience of working on a high profile political campaign.

Tasks will include:

- Compiling contact databases

- Policy and media monitoring

- Policy research

- Administrative assistance

The position will be voluntary and part-time with Campaign Assistants working remotely. There will also be ad hoc campaign meetings in central London. The position will require a commitment of 3-6 hours a week and will be for an initial three month period.

Successful candidates will have:

- Good research skills

- Good communication skills, both written and oral

- An interest in politics

- The ability to self motivate

A knowledge of the Labour Party and/or London politics is a bonus.
