Rob Wilson MP is looking for an intern for his busy constituency office in Caversham, Reading.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate who is looking for a firm grounding in working for an MP. The candidate would ideally be able to commit to a three month internship where a reference will be provided on successful completion. Hours will be flexible and can be negotiated around other commitments.

Responsibilities will be varied and include:

  • Assisting the team with the day-to-day working of the office such as filing and posting correspondence.
  • Accompanying constituency staff and the Member of Parliament to meetings.
  • Assisting with the preparation of press releases and media briefings.
  • Assisting with constituency and policy correspondence.
  • Assisting with keeping the website up to date.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work in a sensitive and confidential manner.

If you can't commit to working regularly, we are also on the lookout for casual volunteers to help out when possible around the office. These positions would be suited to college or university students seeking work experience or looking to support the work of their local MP.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
