Job Details

Overview
The Conservative Middle East Council is looking for an intern to work in all fields including policy research, event management and administration. The successful candidate will gain an insight into the various activities of CMEC and have the opportunity to develop their skills at the heart of Westminster.

What is CMEC?
The Conservative Middle East Council was established in 1980 under Margaret Thatcher’s Government following her signature of the Venice Declaration. The central objective of CMEC is to raise awareness of Middle East issues amongst Conservative MPs and Peers and promote a sound foreign policy in the region. In order to achieve our aims we take delegations to the Middle East, provide briefings to Parliamentarians and host events to inform our members of key regional issues. We define the Middle East as the Arab speaking countries, Iran and Israel.

The ideal candidate will be:

A graduate or post graduate student with a good degree in a relevant field.
Interest in, with experience of, the Middle East.
Interested in international relations and politics.
Able to commit to 2-4 days a week.
Sympathetic towards the goals of CMEC.
Hard working, reliable and professional.

W4MP Note:
The role being advertised is a voluntary one. As such, there are no set hours and responsibilities and you should be free to come and go as you wish. If the post demands set hours and/or has a specific job description you may be deemed to be a ‘worker’ and be covered by National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage legislation.
