The Advertising Association is an organisation that represents all sides of the advertising industry: advertisers, agencies, and media owners. Our remit is to ‘promote and protect the rights, responsibilities and role of advertising’ in the UK – a £16bn industry. We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a 6 month, paid public affairs and communications internship at our Westminster offices.
The responsibilities of the Public Affairs and Communications Intern will include:
- Organising, summarising and undertaking research for AA staff and members;
- Assisting the AA with political monitoring and engagement;
- Contacting relevant parliamentarians, journalists, and political influencers;
- Monitoring, selecting and disseminating live news feeds and providing summary to staff;
- Creating and developing web content;
- General administration tasks including reception, answering of telephones and setting up and clearing of meetings.
Candidate Specification:
- A demonstrable passion for politics, the media, and public affairs would be strongly advantageous;
- A thoughtful, creative and resourceful character;
- A demonstrable ability to take initiative and work without supervision;
- A track record of producing excellent research and written materials;
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to communicate with people at all levels;
- A flexible, can-do attitude and a desire to learn from and work with a small, friendly team;
- Minimum intermediate Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel proficiency.
