The Advertising Association is an organisation that represents all sides of the advertising industry: advertisers, agencies, and media owners.  Our remit is to ‘promote and protect the rights, responsibilities and role of advertising’ in the UK – a £16bn industry.  We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a 6 month, paid public affairs and communications internship at our Westminster offices.

The responsibilities of the Public Affairs and Communications Intern will include:

  • Organising, summarising and undertaking research for AA staff and members;
  • Assisting the AA with political monitoring and engagement;
  • Contacting relevant parliamentarians, journalists, and political influencers;
  • Monitoring, selecting and disseminating live news feeds and providing summary to staff;
  • Creating and developing web content;
  • General administration tasks including reception, answering of telephones and setting up and clearing of meetings.

Candidate Specification:

  • A demonstrable passion for politics, the media, and public affairs would be strongly advantageous;
  • A thoughtful, creative and resourceful character;
  • A demonstrable ability to take initiative and work without supervision;
  • A track record of producing excellent research and written materials;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to communicate with people at all levels;
  • A flexible, can-do attitude and a desire to learn from and work with a small, friendly team;
  • Minimum intermediate Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel proficiency.
