The campaign intern role is to provide an opportunity for a candidate to develop political campaigning skills. This will be achieved by supporting the Campaigns Assistant and/or Campaigns Organiser in delivering the campaign plan, working with local councillors and volunteers, and maintaining a press profile for the MP.

Political campaigning includes a broad range of skills, which would take a period of time to develop.  Therefore the successful candidate would be able to develop a broader range of skills from the internship if they choose to undertake it for a minimum of 3 months (full-time) up to 12 months (part-time). We would welcome applications from those unable to work full-time.

Key skills include:

The writing, artworking and printing of political literature, volunteer development, training and co-ordination, events organisation, and press work.

Applicants will need to demonstrate team working, computer, and writing skills.

We expect an excellent standard of written and verbal communication along with an energetic can-do attitude.

Excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of humour are also keenly desired.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
