Overview

The New City Initiative is a membership think tank comprised of 42 leading asset management firms in the UK and Europe. We aim to make the case for independent asset managers as a positive force in the economy, and to show that independent firms which are aligned with their clients and do not pose systemic risk should not be treated by policymakers and regulators in the same way as the large banks.

To date we have held meetings with Cabinet Ministers in the UK and Europe, held several high-profile events and published several position papers. You can find copies of these and more information about the New City Initiative on our website: www.newcityinitiative.org.

The internship is available on full-time basis (4-5 days per week - up to 35 hours per week) for a minimum of two months. The position will be based at the New City Initiative office in Portman Square, London.

To apply for this position you must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong IT skills and keen attention to detail. This role will require good planning and initiative skills, providing organisational and practical support to the NCI staff.

The successful applicant will assist with:

  • Day to day management of the NCI’s affairs
  • Planning and implementing a summer internship programme for undergraduate students
  • Coordinating the NCI’s Board Meetings
  • Serving as a point of contact for the NCI’s members and communicating with the membership
  • Designing and managing events with high-profile speakers for members
  • Managing NCI’s online media, including website content and social networking sites

Person Specification

Essential

  • Essential) Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • (Essential) Excellent IT skills
  • (Essential) Excellent organisational skills
  • (Highly desirable) Experience of on-line social networking and web-editing
  • A good degree
  • Experience of managing events
  • Experience of authoring and preparing publications for print and distribution

Desirable

  • Fluency or working knowledge of French
  • Experience in financial services or knowledge of the asset management sector
  • Experience of working with a think tank
  • Knowledge of the political process
