The 6-12 month internship offers a unique and challenging opportunity; providing the right graduate with an insight into the challenges facing the public sector, managing organisational and cultural change on a large scale and exposure to elected Members, senior officers and a variety of external agencies.

Your daily tasks will include:

•Developing and/or maintaining a project plan.

•Developing and delivering a communications strategy and plan to support the project, including writing material for internal communications and external publication if appropriate.

•Liaising with other project members, Council employees including senior officers to ensure all elements of the project are delivered appropriately and on time.

•Undertaking development of policies and/or processes and procedures to introduce business changes associated with the project.

•Keeping key stakeholders briefed on progress, highlight issues and potential problems that need to be resolved.

•Undertaking research and data analysis associated with the project.

•Providing administrative support to the project lead/sponsor as appropriate.

•Complying with the Council’s polices on data security and confidentiality.

•Complying with the Council’s corporately operating principles and core values including their Equal opportunities policy.

They are looking for graduates who can demonstrate a really positive ‘can do’ approach to this opportunity. You must be able to demonstrate the right approach, skills and knowledge to gain a place on our internship scheme.

Skills and knowledge:

•Knowledge of the role of the Council and the challenges facing local government.

•Excellent oral communication skills.
