The Criminal Justice Alliance is a coalition of organisations committed to improving the fairness and effectiveness of criminal justice system. It has 70 members - including campaigning charities, voluntary sector service providers, staff associations, human rights lawyers and trade unions – bringing together a wide range of organisations involved in policy and practice across the criminal justice system.
The Criminal Justice Alliance is looking for an intern to assist us in policy and campaigns work for 2 days per week.
This internship will be an opportunity to get hands on experience of policy, research and campaigning work, as well as gaining general experience of working in a small charitable organisation.
Working with a small staff team, activities will include:
- Assisting in producing policy briefings and consultation responses
- Publicising the work of the Alliance
- Liaising with member organisations and assisting in co-ordinating events
- General administrative duties as they are presented
Skills required:
- Good knowledge of criminal justice issues and British political system, with a related undergraduate and preferably masters degree.
- Ability to work on your own initiative, a methodical approach and attention to detail.
- Good research skills and analytical capabilities.
- Confidence in communicating over the phone, in writing and in person.
The internship will be for 2 days a week, flexible, for 6 months at the London living wage. The Criminal Justice Alliance is based in Vauxhall in London.

Interview/Start Dates
Interviews will be held on 19th April with the succesful candidate starting on the 29th April, although there is the possibility of extending out the start date.
