The What I See Project internship will involve assisting with digital & social media http://www.whatiseeproject.com/.  The intern will be responsible for aspects of the blog and social media content output and day-to-day web communications, working with colleagues across HD Ventures to support them with the day to day operations of the What I See project website.

What I See is a digital art and science project set up by Edwina Dunn, see more about Edwina and the background to the project here; http://whatiseeproject.com/project/background.

Main Activities/Responsibilities:  

Blog/Editorial

  • Work proactively with colleagues to undertake blogging and social media as part of their working activities.
  • Contribute to the What I See (WISP) blogs, promoting key content in a timely manner.
  • Develop the WISP blog and social media schedule and communicate upcoming activity to colleagues as required.
  • Author or commission the weekly WISP content, manage comments and promote activity via social media.
  • Where required, proof-read and copy edit text for the website.

Social Media

  • Develop content for social media campaigns and activity.
  • Develop content for social media platforms including Twitter, Tumblr & Hootsuite.
  • Basic understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and basic Google Analytics skills.
  • Follow internal guidelines to ensure best practice in the development of content for the web and social media.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Be keen to work hard and make a contribution to an exciting project.
  • Experience of writing or editing copy for the web.
  • Experience of working with blog publishing and social media (Wordpress, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr etc).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good writing, editorial and proof-reading skills.
  • Good research skills and communication skills.
  • Want to learn and be part of a team.

Desirable 

  • Experience of editing rich media content including image, video Photoshop, Final Cut Pro.
  • A keen interest and commitment to developing women’s roles within the workplace and society.

The position is an internship for 3 months with an option to extend to 6 months. Hours will be 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday and 09:00 - 16:00 on Friday.
