Job Details

The Social Mobility Foundation is a small, high-profile charity that will be delivering a number of internship programmes for young people across the summer period.

We are seeking two administrative interns to support the delivery of these internship programmes from May until the end of September (approximately 5 months), as well as support the SMF's activities more broadly. The roles will involve a large number of administrative tasks including regular email/telephone correspondence with young people (and their parents and teachers), making travel bookings, organising evening activities for the groups, drafting documents, providing information to employers offering the internships as well as drafting evaluation reports on conclusion of the programmes. There will also be a range of more general administrative tasks and support required for events the SMF is running during this period.

The roles are a great opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the organisation and delivery of activities for young people and the operations of a small charity. The successful candidates will be hard-working and efficient with excellent attention to detail. They will be personable and able to adapt their style of communication when switching from liaison with young people to employers, and be able to demonstrate their capacity to handle a large volume of tasks as well as deal with having to change their planned course of action at short notice.

Whilst helpful, no prior experience with young people is required for these roles.

Closing Date: 29 April 2013

Interview/Start Dates

The closing date for applications is 29th April (9am). Interviews are likely to take place on 1st and 2nd May.

Application Details

Interested applicants should send a CV, covering letter outlining their suitability for the post and a one page letter on what they feel are the barriers the young people the SMF targets face in entering top professions to job@socialmobility.org.uk.

Generic or incomplete applications will not be considered.
