A vacancy has arisen for an intern within the Communications and Strategy Unit. The Unit lies at the heart of the council’s decision-making and provides support and advice to senior politicians and officials.
You will track, monitor and analyse developments in public policy and within Parliament impacting upon the public sector, local government and Westminster and will communicate them to a range of stakeholders.
You will undertake research, prepare briefing papers and will draft speeches working closely with senior politicians.
You will also facilitate the scrutiny process, developing key themes for scrutiny and providing administrative support.
You will deal with range of internal and external stakeholders including members of the public.
Successful candidates will be politically astute, intellectually strong and will ideally have experience of policy development or of working within a parliamentary or government environment.
This role is for an initial three months with a view to extending depending on performance and project work.
