Policy Connect is a think tank that works with parliamentarians, business and the public sector to help improve policy. We are not-for-profit, cross-party and independent.
We are looking for a Researcher to join our Education and Skills Group, which manages the work of the National Skills Forum, Associate Parliamentary Skills & Employment Group, Skills Commission and Higher Education Commission.
The Education and Skills Group specialises in further education, skills and higher education policy. The Group runs a programme of research projects and holds seminars and events in Parliament. For more information on the Group's research visit http://www.policyconnect.org.uk/nsfapsg.
Person specification
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have a good understanding of education policy and a strong awareness of Parliament and the policy-making process.
- You must have excellent written and research skills, and preferably experience of researching and writing public policy briefings or reports to publication standard.
- You should be highly motivated, organised, happy working within a small team and willing to adapt your work to meet changing short and long-term objectives.
Job description
The scope of the job will change and develop according to the work the Group undertakes, but ongoing duties will include:
- Organise and manage the delivery of seminars and other events in Parliament.
- Write up detailed reports of policy seminars, augmented by desk research.
- Research and write a weekly bulletin summarising news stories and developments in education and skills.
- Research and develop new ideas for seminars, events and other project work.
- Assist with management and delivery of research projects.
- Liaise with partners and stakeholders in conjunction with the Group’s Manager.
- Assist with content management of the Group’s website.
- Attend external events.
