FIELD ORGANISER

We are looking for an organised, energetic and enthusiastic person to help build the Liberal Democrat’s volunteer organisation in Manchester. Our Councillors and MP John Leech have a strong record of delivering for the people of Manchester and would like to strengthen our team.

The role is based in Didsbury, south Manchester. Manchester is a vibrant, diverse and world class city with large Irish, LGBT, Asian, Jewish, Afro-Caribbean and student populations. It also has an internationally noted sports and music scene.

Field Organiser – Job and person specification
This role is two matched jobs

FIELD RECRUITER (3 days per week)
To recruit, retain and develop volunteers.

Key responsibilities
• Recruit, train and manage volunteers
• Develop the field plan and keep it up-to date
• Drive the field plan, report daily and weekly against the plan’s performance indicators
• Organise and manage phone banks, clerical sessions and doorstep sessions
• Adept at speaking to; cultivating relationships with; and asking for help from people from all backgrounds and cultures
• Confident and comfortable on the phone (expected 4hrs per day on the phone)
• Candidates must be self-motivated and available and willing to work evenings and weekends

SENIOR SECRETARY (2 days per week)
To provide secretarial and administrative support the MP's office.

Key responsibilities
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with MPs, Councillors, volunteers and other key stakeholders including the General Public
• Deal with incoming issues received by telephone, from visitors, and by emails and letter
• Accurately and efficiently record and allocate client issues, records and actions
• Representing the MP and including drafting letters, emails and making telephone calls
• Provide financial administrative support
• Manage the MP’s Diary Constituency Commitments including arranging meetings and events

BOTH ROLES

• To undertake training as is recommended to develop and update required skills
• To advise the line manager, as appropriate, on organisational, communication and/or maintenance priorities which may benefit the smooth running of the office or external relationships

• Access to a reliable vehicle and a clean driving licence
