The EEF is an independent grant-making charity dedicated to raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupils in English primary and secondary schools by challenging educational disadvantage, sharing evidence and finding out what works.

Founded in 2011 by the education charity the Sutton Trust, as lead charity in partnership with Impetus Trust, the EEF is funded by a £125m grant from the Department for Education. With investment and fundraising income, the EEF intends to award as much as £200m over the 15-year life of the Foundation.

Overall responsibilities

The EEF is looking to recruit an administrative assistant to join its 10-strong team in its Westminster office.

The role will encompass a range of duties, including:
• Acting as the EEF’s first point of contact for phone and email inquiries;
• Providing PA support to the Chief Executive (including diary management, meeting arrangements, expenses and travel arrangements);
• Supporting other members of the team where required (eg grants set-up and monitoring, administering invoices etc;
• Maintaining the EEF website, including updating news and information about projects;
• Organising events including board meetings, seminars and conferences;
• Any other duties to meet the needs of the EEF commensurate with the level of the post.

Line Management responsibilities: Business and Administration Apprentice.

Person specification

Experience and knowledge:
• A good general level of education, including a university degree or equivalent;
• An interest in education and in particular an understanding and commitment to the aims of the EEF;
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
• Experience of using technology in communications.

Skills and abilities
• An ability to work independently and use initiative;
• Excellent organisational skills.

Attitudes:
• A commitment to improving the educational opportunities of disadvantaged children;
• A combination of the personal sensitivity, creativity and tact that is needed when working with a range of individuals and organisations.
