Job Title: Research Director

Working For: Pensions Policy Institute

Location: London

Salary: Competitive

Length of Contract:

Job Details

The Pensions Policy Institute has established a strong reputation within the pension industry, in Government circles and with the media for its independent, evidence-based analysis and comment in the field of pensions and retirement policy. Its research findings are used extensively by Government decision-makers and advisers, other political parties, pension and savings providers, employers and trades unions, academics, commentators and the wider public.

The PPI is seeking to appoint a new Research Director to replace the current post holder who has recently been promoted to Director. This is an exciting opportunity to play a major role in the PPI’s contribution to the national debate on pensions and retirement policy issues, at a time when these are increasingly in the spotlight.

The Research Director’s key responsibilities are to:

  • Develop, implement and manage the PPI research plan
  • Oversee and ensure the quality, accuracy and independence of PPI research outputs
  • Broaden recognition of the PPI’s work in the policy and research community and with the media
  • Effectively manage PPI resources, including staff
  • Support the PPI Director in the running of the PPI

The successful candidate will have a background in research in pensions, social policy or a related field, with significant public policy or pensions/financial services industry experience. He or she will also have excellent communications, drafting and project management skills.

The PPI is a small organisation, and as such all members of the PPI team are able – and expected – to contribute to the running of the PPI. We would be particularly interested in hearing from candidates who also have additional skills and expertise that would be beneficial to the PPI.

The PPI Research Director will work with the PPI Director, Chris Curry. The role is based at the PPI’s office in Covent Garden in central London.

Closing Date: 10 June 2013

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews for short-listed candidates will be held on Wednesday 3rd July 2013 in central London. Start dates will be arranged via discussion between candidates and the PPI.

An information pack can be downloaded at www.pensionspolicyinstitute.org.uk, which gives details of how to apply. Candidates are asked to provide a CV together with a covering letter briefly outlining their suitability for the role, and what skills and experiences they would bring to the PPI.
