About the National Citizen Service (NCS) Programme

National Citizen Service (NCS) is the Government’s flagship Big Society programme for young people.

The programme will run during the summer for young people aged 16-17 years old. NCS is a personal development programme that aims to promote a more cohesive, responsible and engaged society, by bringing young people from different backgrounds together to make a difference in their communities.

NCS is an exciting programme which will provide young people with the opportunity to learn new skills and build their confidence. They will also have a chance to develop their own community action projects to benefit members of their community. The programme focuses on their personal and social development.

Role Profile

Accountable to: NCS Programme Coordinator.

Primary Purpose: to mentor a team of 15 NCS participants through a variety of activities including residential stays and a social engagement programme.

Location: Nottinghamshire + Derbyshire.

Contract type: Fixed Term Summer Holidays.

Includes and covers:

2 days' compulsory training (15th-16th June OR 22nd-23rd June)
2 weeks full time residential
30 hours supporting design and delivery of social action projects
Attendance at Graduation Event- in September 2013 (DATE TBC)
The position will require you to work flexibly to cover evenings, weekends and residentially.
