Job Details
Two days a week.
Responsibilities
Working to the Senior Caseworker. Assess casework coming in via post, email, fax or telephone. Generate responses to constituents and action letters to appropriate bodies (ie Home Office, Hackney Council, Jobcentre Plus) within the required deadline. Assess replies received and generate response letters to constituents. Filing work in the shared filing system. Transcribing dictation tapes from Meg and dealing with the resulting work including preparation of letters for Meg to sign. Phone answering in rotation dealing with enquiries from constituents. Attendance at surgery to interview constituents concerning their cases and issues.
Skills and experience required
Must have at least one year’s casework experience preferably for an elected representative. Excellent people skills. Excellent writing and communication skills. Good IT skills. Knowledge of CFL Caseworker database is desirable. Good organisational skills. Interest in current affairs and sympathy with Labour Party values. Knowledge of East London or a similar area is desirable.
