The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN, www.cdkn.org) is currently recruiting a part-time (2-3 days per week) Global Communications Assistant in the Knowledge Management (KM) team, based at Overseas Development Institute (www.odi.org.uk) in London. 

This exciting role will support CDKN’s endeavour to become a world leader in technical advice and thought leadership on climate compatible development, by providing assistance with branding, marketing, press work, and events management.

Job responsibilities

• Support in delivering CDKN’s public affairs and outreach strategy, including:
o Scoping key opportunities for CDKN to promote its products and messages in external events.
o Organising the effective outreach of CDKN’s publications, DVDs and other knowledge products, particularly in the event, workshop and training context.

• Support to editorial and branding work, including:
o Direct support to the Knowledge Management Coordinator in proof-reading publications on climate compatible development themes, evaluating design and layout work and identifying images for use in publications.
o Championing the CDKN brand and helping CDKN staff to apply the brand values and specific brand guidelines in their daily work.

Online promotion of CDKN content to third party websites, including:
o Key development and climate change blogs, forums and databases.
o Relevant Listservs.
o Social media outlets, particularly Twitter, Facebook, Youtube.
o Academic outlets including journals and databases.

• Providing administrative input to communications monitoring and evaluation systems.

Job requirements

Essential
o Complete fluency in English.
o Top-notch writing skills and copywriting or publications experience.
o Coursework or professional experience in development studies.
o Interest in the impacts of and strategies to mitigate or adapt to climate change.
o A demonstrable interest in online debates and news about climate change and development.
o Confidence to work with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse cultural and organisational environments.

Desirable
o Demonstrated communications or campaigning experience.
o Working knowledge of Spanish (preferably) or French.
o Experience in organising events.

Contract length

Should be able to commit to the role for a minimum of 10 months.
