A secretary is required to provide secretarial and administrative support for the MP in the Westminster office, working as part of a busy team. The ideal candidate will have excellent grammar, communication and IT skills though parliamentary experience is not needed. The ideal candidate will need to be super-organised.
Key responsibilities:
- Dealing with and monitoring incoming enquiries, via email, letter and telephone; responding to emails and letters, efficient data and file management
- Typing including audio typing (min 40 wpm sought)
- Keeping records of client contact and allocation on workflow system
- Dealing with some matters on the Member’s behalf, and escalating others, including drafting and printing letters on various issues
- Managing Westminster diary
- Dealing with suppliers, orders and simple queries
- Providing administrative support to the Member in relation to the MPs’ Expenses Scheme
- May also provide secretariat support to all-party or special interest groups
- Liaising with constituents for Parliamentary tours, ticket applications and other bookings
- Providing cover for other team members, if needed
