Job Details:

Toby Perkins MP is looking to recruit a highly motivated Caseworker/Parliamentary Assistant for his Chesterfield Constituency office. The successful candidate will operate in a busy office with a focused and driven team and will need to balance a large and diverse workload. Understanding and commitment to the ethos of the Labour Party is essential.

Main duties:

• Respond effectively to correspondence and enquiries from constituents
• Manage casework load
• Build relationships and ensure coverage in local media
• Work with others to promote the work of the MP within the constituency
• Manage diary and constituency engagements building relationships with key stakeholders
• Draft correspondence to constituents on any issues raised on behalf of the member
• Full range of administrative duties to support work of the office

Skills required:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritise work load to successfully manage a variety of projects
• Full proficiency in Word, Outlook and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work in a team and on own initiative
• Good interpersonal skills to manage and build relationships across a broad spectrum of people and organisations

One Year fixed term contract.
