MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Research specific security incidents or trends (eg. criminal and terrorist attacks and associated trends) to assist Information & Intelligence (I&I) analysis and operational decision making.
  • Selected report compilation and writing.
  • Research and analysis of global, regional, country and sector specific security events and trends, and inputting results into databases and web-based products.
  • Assist with the design of web-based security information products.
  • Background research in support of I&I core tasks and reporting requirements. Specific examples include: sales campaign research; data research for client training; selected global security risk and stability research; responding to operational requests for information on country entry and exit processes, border controls, and air/sea/land access and egress; compiling lists of potential sources from information provided by consultants in response to the security data acquisition process.
  • Adhoc duties as directed by the Intelligence Analyst, Senior Operations Manager and Director Risk and Information Services.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

  • Willing to sign non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Internet Software.
  • Practical understanding of relevant open sources.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills.
  • Hard-working and independent, takes pride in quality of work.
  • Effective and efficient communicator in English, written and spoken.
  • Cooperative, enjoys working in a team environment.
  • Confident and outgoing.
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in International Security, Politics, or similar.’

DESIRABLE QUALITIES

  • Extensive familiarity with the political and security environment of the Middle East and North Africa and/or Afghanistan and Pakistan and/or sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Masters degree in relevant field (International Security, International Relations, Terrorism Studies, Politics, War Studies etc).
  • An understanding of how countries' individual security environments affect multinational organisations (both for profit and not for profit).
