Parliamentary Assistant required for the busy constituency office of the Rt Hon Dr Vincent Cable MP.
Based in Twickenham, Dr Cable is looking for someone capable of:
Drafting responses to a high volume of constituents’ correspondence on a variety of policy and legislation issues.
Responding effectively and courteously to routine enquiries from constituents.
Arranging tours of the Houses of Parliament and gallery tickets for constituents.
Ensuring records are kept of work done and in progress, by adhering to the Data Protection Act principles and respecting the confidentiality of data at all time.
Communicating effectively with both internal and external contacts.
Covering for other members of constituency office staff during holiday periods.
Applicants should be used to working under pressure on their own initiative, have competent IT skills including Microsoft Office package, email and internet and able to set up and maintain databases. This is not a Parliamentary researcher post and the role is primarily one of dealing with Dr Cable’s correspondence.
The responsibilities of this role are in line with the job description set out by IPSA.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
