Job Details

Liz Kendall, Labour’s MP for Leicester West, is looking to recruit a warm and friendly individual with bags of enthusiasm to work in her very busy constituency office. First and foremost, the ideal candidate will be able to offer an exceptional level of customer service as they assist constituents with a wide range of problems. They will also be well organised with very strong communication and administrative skills.

At present, this is a fixed term contract until April 2014.

•Provide an open, front of house enquiry service, responding effectively to correspondence, email, face-to-face and telephone enquiries from constituents. In most instances, the successful candidate will be the first point of contact for constituents.
•Provide advice and support to constituents on a range of issues including crime and antisocial behaviour, housing, immigration and access to public services.
•Liaise with public sector agencies and other third party organisations on behalf of constituents.
•Effectively triage enquiries, either by resolving them in the first instance or by referring them to the relevant colleague.
•Assist in the drafting of responses to policy related enquiries.
•Undertake casework in a timely manner following office procedures.
•Ensure all cases are logged and updated on all office systems.

•Accompany Liz on constituency engagements - a driving licence and access to your own car is a huge advantage.
•Take a leading role in the administration of the office, including ordering stationary, sorting the post, keeping the office's databases up to date, scanning, photocopying and stuffing envelopes.
•You must be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
