Southend Labour Party is looking to employ a campaigns assistant to support local campaigns in the run up to local elections in May 2014 and possibly beyond.

This is an ideal position for someone who wants to gain experience in Labour Party campaigns for a future career in the Labour Party or a related organisation. Hours of employment will be flexible but an ability to work Saturday mornings is desirable. The campaigns assistant shall report to the Leader of the Labour Group and the LCF chair.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, be IT literate and have a commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party (ideally a party member or willing to join). Training on wide range of Labour Party campaign techniques and specialist software will be given.

Key tasks will include

  • Managing the production and printing process for Labour Party communications in Southend including production of direct mails, leaflets and other campaign materials
  • Providing administrative support to candidates and elected representatives
  • Training and coordinating volunteers as appropriate
  • Managing electoral and other data collected by Labour in Southend

Compliance with the provision of the Data Protection Act and other legislation is essential (training will be given as needed).

Interviews will be held in Southend on week begining 9th of October.
