Job Title: Campaign Interns (x 3)

Working For: West Kent Conservative Campaign HQ

Location: Paddock Wood, Kent

Salary: National minimum wage - £6.31 per hour

Length of Contract:

Job Details

The West Kent Conservative Campaign HQ manages the Conservative Party in five West Kent constituencies: Chatham & Aylesford, Faversham & Mid Kent, Maidstone & The Weald, Tonbridge & Malling and Tunbridge Wells. The office provides administrative and campaign support, legal and compliance advice, training and development as well as fundraising and members' services to five MPs, 250 councillors and over 3,000 Conservative members and donors in our area.

West Kent Conservatives have a deserved reputation for innovation and providing campaign support for neighbouring marginal constituencies, including local and parliamentary by-elections, the London Mayoral Election and are fully committed to the Party's 40:40 Strategy.

To help us develop our work we are seeking three interns to help manage specific projects.

1. A full-time intern for a period of up to twelve months whose main responsibility will be to work alongside Tom Tugendhat (the newly selected Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Tonbridge & Malling). This will include managing his constituency diary, assisting with raising his profile through newsletters, campaigning activity, through the press and other related projects.

2. A part-time (2 days per week for 3 months) internship to help us develop an innovative membership retention scheme. This will involve identifying small independent retailers across West Kent and visiting them with a view to their participation in a Members' Loyalty Card Scheme.

3. A part-time campaign intern (5 days per week for 2 months) assisting with the local and European elections on Thursday 22 May. This will involve database management, leaflet production and organising campaign sessions for our local government and EU candidates.

Successful applicants will be paid the minimum wage and it may be possible to contribute towards travel expenses in exceptional cases. Due to the geographical area we cover, it would probably be difficult to complete the required duties without access to a car.

West Kent Conservatives take their responsibilities towards interns seriously. You will be working as part of a vibrant and cheerful team in a busy and, at times, demanding office environment. Our previous interns have all found full-time work (either within our organisation or with a local MP).

Closing Date: 28 February 2014

Interview/Start Dates

First-round interviews will be held in March with a target start date of early April.
