The role

The Alliance for Responsible Democracy (ARD) is seeking a dynamic, driven, outcomes-orientated individual to recruit as Spokesperson to join our team in Brussels.

The Spokesperson is expected to proactively build and guard ARD’s reputation in the media. The Spokesperson must be able to understand the importance of news, how journalists operate and how to position ARD in the news. He or she must be personable, engaging and professional. He or she is a strategic and creative thinker, as he or she is in charge of creating compelling content, but also be able to spot developments and news stories of importance to ARD. The Spokesperson is the ambassador for ARD and will be expected to develop ties with journalists. They must be able to assist the Board in its media engagements and advise them adequately. The Spokesperson can develop and implement media strategies and tactics to proactively push ARD messages in the media.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate a strong understanding of print, broadcast and social media landscapes into planning and implementation of media relations activities
  • Determine an appropriate tone and level of response in all media engagements
  • Hold, develop and maintain credible relationships with key press and journalists across the full range of media

Requirements

  • Native English speaker; fluency in other languages welcomed
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Thorough understanding of the EU media landscape
  • Proven track record in PR, advertising, journalism, business/marketing or other relevant field
  • Naturally proactive and highly motivated, demonstrating the ability (and desire) to work independently and confidently
  • Understanding of the role that media plays in a communication mix and assist in the development of strategies and campaigns
