This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer for the charity Prisoners Education Trust (PET) as it celebrates its 25th anniversary of helping prisoners to change their lives through learning. This post helps provide administrative, communications and research support for PET’s policy, media and fundraising teams. In this role you will learn about research related to prisoner education and how to communicate those findings among parliamentarians, supporters, donors and journalists.

Tasks

  • Policy assistance: preparing correspondence to prisoners and PET alumni, the Prisoner Learning Alliance, PET supporters, MPs and peers, reading reports, helping at events.
  • Communications assistance: drafting, proof-reading and uploading content for the website (e-news stories, press releases, case studies and photos as required).
  • Social media: assist with regular posts on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Database assistance: tracking PET’s contact with donors, supporters and fundraisersOther general and administrative tasks as required.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A commitment to PET’s values and an interest in the criminal justice system.
  • Good organisational and research skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to different audiences.
  • Strong IT skills, including competence in using MS Office and social media.

This is a three month part-time placement – 2 or 3 days per week (flexible working applies).
