Frank Field MP is seeking to appoint a new Parliamentary assistant. The role, based in Frank’s House of Commons office, will primarily cover early years, education and modern slavery policy, as well as additional ad hoc subject areas.

Job Description

• Research issues and prepare briefings to underpin Frank's parliamentary activities.
• Research, develop, progress and promote campaigns, liaising with stakeholders when necessary.
• Help manage media relations: liaise with the media, draft press releases and articles.
• Monitor parliamentary activity: legislation, motions, debates and questions.
• Liaise with colleagues in the Birkenhead constituency to promote Frank’s activities.
• Liaise with Frank's interests outside of Parliament (including the Foundation Years Trust, the Foundation Years Action Group, the Human Trafficking Foundation, Cool Earth and the Royal Commonwealth Society).
• Contribute to the day to day running of a small but busy office, including ad-hoc admin tasks.      
• Respond to constituents on policy and some casework enquiries.

Person Specification

• Educated to degree level, with a strong academic record.
• Ability to absorb quickly new concepts and information, and to act on this with initiative and imagination.
• Ability to work quickly and flexibly, cope with a heavy work load, and complete tasks in a timely way.
• Excellent communication.
• Ability to remain discreet and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Committed to serving the people of Birkenhead.
• Excellent IT skills.
• A keen interest in politics and current affairs.
• An interest in and knowledge of early years research and policy would be an advantage.
