Job Details

CoVi (Common Vision) is a new visual think tank and ideas consultancy which uses film and interactive media to produce innovative, shareable ideas about politics, economics and society. A not-for-profit and social enterprise, we celebrated our official launch in March 2014.

CoVi is a platform for debate that moves beyond conventional ‘left wing’ and ‘right wing’ partisan politics. Instead, we prioritise ‘common sense’ thinking in the interests of local communities and the common good. Through documentaries, short films, interactive graphics and social media, CoVi aims to promote civic engagement beyond a politically active minority.

This is a 5-month traineeship for an outstanding individual to gain experience within the CoVi team during an important time of organisational development. The position will involve a broad range of tasks focused on business strategy, operations and partnerships. You will also work within CoVi Consulting, the social enterprise subsidiary of CoVi that works with clients who want to explore, communicate and deliver strategic interventions for the common good.

The role will include:

  • Helping to develop CoVi's strategic vision
  • Conducting market analysis and business planning
  • Researching fundraising and partnership opportunities
  • Assisting with governance processes such as board meetings
  • Helping to deliver an exciting programme of events and conferences
  • Liaising with senior stakeholders, partners and clients
  • General administration, diary management and operational support

In return, you can expect mentoring from CoVi's Director and board members. You will gain first-hand experience of running a start-up and interact daily with stakeholders and clients. You will be able to shape your role within the organisation to suit your interests and career development priorities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated individual who would like a 'springboard' into strategy, policy or communications roles.

The successful candidate will have a broad interest in current affairs and public policy, and a passion for developing and communicating great ideas. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential. Confident and personable, you will be able to demonstrate entrepreneurial flair and will be comfortable working independently.

Closing Date: 27 April 2014

Start date: May 2014. We may appoint before the closing date.
