Transparency International (TI) is the civil society organisation leading the global fight against corruption. TI-DSP, an international programme led by the UK chapter, is dedicated to fighting corruption in the defence and security sector. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and innovative Advocacy and Communications Assistant to push forward our advocacy work and help ensure that the research that we do translates into concrete changes
The role:
• Supporting communications work, including: media monitoring and social media; producing blogs, short reports, or videos; and helping to draft and distribute press releases
• Maintaining and updating our websites
• Liaising with the global network of TI National Chapters and building our network of CSOs
• Editing and proofreading publications, and coordinating with researchers, designers and printers on the production of reports
• Working with the advocacy and communications team and TI International Secretariat on international messaging and launches
• Assisting with civil society capacity-building activities. This may include supporting fundraising proposals, and organising report launches and other events
Required
• Educated to a BA- or Masters-level in international relations, politics, communications, or a related discipline
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to edit and proofread reports
• Ability to translate complex research into understandable material and messages
• Knowledge of CMS (we use Joomla and Drupal, but transferable experience may be acceptable); HTML coding is an asset
• Knowledge of desktop publishing and design software
• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
• Fluency in English. Additional languages are a strong asset
• Self-starter with the capacity to work independently
• No restrictions on right to work in the UK
Desirable
• Experience with advocacy and campaigns, developing messages and communications/advocacy strategies
• Knowledge of defence and security issues and/or corruption-related work
• Experience creating videos and understanding of Adobe Premiere or Final Cut
• Strong networking and relationship management skills
