The National Citizens Service is a government funded programme for 16-17 year olds which takes place throughout the year. Elevation Networks' Summer NCS Programme will take place over a 4 week period during which time the young people will complete 2 residentials (one in an outdoor activity centre and one in a university) and commit 30 hours to a social action project designed to address a problem in their local community.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Team Leaders for both waves of the programme.
Job Purpose: To supervise and support young people to participate in the National Citizen Service Programme.
General Responsibilities Include:
• Work as part of a team to achieve the NCS programme outcomes
• Leading activities and direction of NCS team members
• Engaging and building positive relationships with young people
• Supporting the recruitment of the targeted number of young people to fully participate in the programme
• Assisting the NCS Programme Co-ordinator with additional responsibilities such as completing forms, supporting recruitment, programme delivery
• Ensuring the successful delivery of the NCS programme by reaching out and building relationships with schools, colleges and local communities
Person Specification: Skills and Experience
Essential:
• Basic knowledge of the local region community and surrounding areas
• Strong leadership and project management skills and experience managing a team of people
• An understanding of the needs of 16-17 year olds and what engages them
• Excellent communication and team building skills
• Good organisational and decision making skills
• Ability to handle challenging situations and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to take ownership of tasked areas of responsibility
• A passion for working with young people
Desirable:
• Experience of volunteering or working with young people of the target age group
• Previous knowledge of the NCS programme and/or experience working on the NCS
• Experience of working directly with young people with disabilities
• A current first aid qualification
• A recent and valid DBS certificate (enhanced or standard)

Wave 2: 28 July- 24 August 2014
Interviews will be conducted on a case by case basis. Recruitment will close once all positions have been filled.
