The UK All Party Parliamentary Group for the Prevention of Genocide and Crimes against Humanity was established in July 2005 with the help of international genocide prevention NGO Aegis Trust to encourage parliamentary engagement with issues of civilian protection and atrocity prevention across both Houses of parliament. Aegis Trust continues to provide the Secretariat for the group.

The APPG is now seeking a new Coordinator to support the group. This exciting new position, based in Stephen Twigg MP’s office in Parliament, will drive forward the work of the APPG through managing and coordinating all aspects of the APPG’s work.

Over the coming month, the UK APPG will also be encouraging parliamentarians in other countries to establish their own cross-party parliamentary groups to work collectively to ensure that their governments uphold their most important commitments to protect civilians at domestically and internationally from genocide and mass atrocities. The objective of this programme is to establish a Global Parliamentary Network for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities (GPN). Aegis Trust will serve as GPN Network Secretariat.

Job Description

The main purpose of the Coordinator role is to manage and coordinate the work of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Prevention of Genocide and Crimes against Humanity. This includes managing relationships with members of the group and external partners effectively, overseeing projects, and developing the activity, membership and prominence of the group. This role will also involve assisting in the developing of the Global Parliamentary Network for Genocide and Mass Atrocities Prevention.
