The British Medical Association (BMA) is the trade union and professional association for doctors providing a wide range of services to its members, including guidance, support and representation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic communicator to provide monitoring and research support to the busy public affairs and public information team. This will include researching and monitoring the Westminster Parliament and central government departments, EU institutions and relevant external stakeholders. You will also provide administrative support to the team, such being the first port of call for queries particularly from the offices of MPs and Peers, overseeing distribution of briefings and providing event administration.
Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs and Public Information and working within the Communications and Marketing Directorate, you should be a graduate (or equivalent), with strong research, information seeking and organisational ability. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and some experience in delivering an effective information service.
You will possess a good working knowledge of legislative procedures, particularly for Westminster as well as general awareness of wider policy-making processes. Previous experience of health service issues is an advantage.
