The UK Campaigns Officer is responsible for working with the UK Country Director and campaigns team to lead and execute the UK campaigning priorities of the organization.

  • Lead on grassroots activation and action of all campaigning activity
  • Take a lead on campaigns where necessary
  • Increase the number and effectiveness of Global Citizens

Key Responsibilities

Campaigns

  •  Develop and execute the Global Citizen UK General Election Strategy.
  •  Write and develop campaign strategies for new UK campaigns where necessary.
  •  Work with the other UK Campaigns Officer on cross cutting campaign activity.
  •  Lead on grassroots activation for all UK campaigns, including Live Below the Line, UNFPA, ZeroPoverty 2030 and Action 2015.
  •  Liaise with government, civil servants and policy partners when required.
  •  External relationships

Project Management

  • Develop and manage the Global Citizen Advocate programme.
  • Work with the UK Country Director and Global Citizen Editor to enhance and improve the Global Citizen journey. 

Communications

  • Create engaging public-facing campaigns content for Global Citizen
  • Support the social media function with creative content and ideas
  • Working with the UK Communications Manager, support the Global Citizen Advocates to be effective in their local areas, including in the local media. 

Skills/Experience

  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Exceptional public engagement campaigning experience in campaigns
  • Good understanding of digital campaigning and developing online support resources
  • Strong project management skills
  • People management skills, with ability to build teams and work with volunteers
  • Strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of international development issues
  • Ability to take initiative, proactively spot and solve issues
  • Ability to work at a fast pace working on multiple campaigns at one time
  • Active team player
