Job Title: Parliamentary Assistant

Key responsibilities:

Providing administrative support, including

Supporting the MSP’s Parliamentary work, including communications via e-mail, letter and phone, maintaining and managing diary and providing support for meetings. Drafting letters, speeches as required. Taking enquiries from constituents and stakeholders where appropriate. Liaising with Councillors, officials, Parliament staff, MSPs, MPs and MEPs. Assisting in preparing for visits, events, questions and motions.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Knowledge and interest in the Scottish political scene. (Essential) Good IT skills and awareness of the web, social media etc. (Essential)Flexible approach and be self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised whilst working as part of a small team. (Essential) Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. (Essential)Strong organisational skills. (Essential) The ability to form and nurture effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. (Essential) Experience of working in Parliament and an understanding of the parliament’s structures. (Desirable).

The post is based in Edinburgh in the Scottish Parliament with travel to Dundee.
