Job Details
Nick de Bois, MP for Enfield North, is seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working and diligent Parliamentary Assistant to support him in performing his Parliamentary duties. The role is based at his Westminster office but may occasionally require travel to his constituency.
The role will involve the following:
- Responding effectively, courteously and independently to routine correspondence and enquiries from constituents, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups.
- Undertaking research on complex and difficult subjects.
- Monitoring bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates, etc.
- Monitoring coverage in the media, and liaise with the media when necessary.
- Progressing casework through liaison with Mr de Bois’ constituency office.
- Updating and maintaining www.nickdebois.com.
- Ensuring records are kept using the Casework Management System, adhering to the Data Protection Act principles and respecting the confidentiality of data at all times.
- Communicating effectively with both internal and external contacts.
- Undertaking other tasks as required.
The successful candidate is likely to:
- Be educated to degree level, with a 2:1 or better.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be sympathetic to the views of the Conservative party.
- Have experience of working in politics, whether in Parliament or elsewhere.
- Have the ability to work individually and as part of a team, with a proven track record of working through problems in order to meet deadlines.
- Sound political knowledge and judgement.
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates
Start date is as soon as possible, giving consideration to any notice period that may need to be worked out with a previous employer.
Interviews will be held on a rolling basis from 28 July. If a successful candidate is found then they may be appointed before the closing date.
