Julian Huppert is looking for a politically intelligent, enthusiastic and hard-working parliamentary researcher. The job is located in Westminster.

Key tasks:
• Carry out research and prepare briefings, parliamentary questions, speeches and articles as required
• Monitor bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates, etc
• Undertake some constituency related casework and liaise with constituency office to promote local issues in Parliament
• Conduct research into a wide range of policy areas
• Organise and attend meetings with or on behalf of Julian
• Update the website, as required

Desirable skills and qualities include:
• Ability to grasp complex ideas quickly and translate into easily understood briefings and reports
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Good time management
• Ability to produce high quality work within short deadlines
• A good understanding of how parliament works
• Knowledge and interest in home affairs, justice and equalities issues
• Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office programmes, email and internet
• Ability to work successfully with people in a remote office
The successful candidate must be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats
The post may require occasional evening work and travel to Cambridge/elsewhere

The ideal candidate will be able to start on Wednesday 27th August.
Interview dates: 11th or 12th August. Interviews will be in London.
