The Organisation and Role

The Centre for Entrepreneurs think tank is looking for an outstanding individual to lead its research activities.

Launched in October 2013 as a joint venture between the Legatum Institute and serial entrepreneur Luke Johnson, the Centre promotes the role of entrepreneurs in creating economic growth and social well-being. The Centre is currently preparing a major report on public sector procurement. It has also partnered with the UK Business Angels Association to undertake the largest piece of research on angel investing for over five years. In March 2014 it took ownership of national enterprise campaign StartUp Britain, adding a valuable public awareness campaign brand to the think tank.

The Centre received wall-to-wall press coverage for its recent publication 'Migrant entrepreneurs: Building our businesses, creating our jobs', which found that 1 in 7 UK companies were founded by migrants. The successful candidate will be responsible for repeating this level of success by delivering quarterly research publications that evidence the value of entrepreneurs and present new data, opinion and insight on topical issues affecting entrepreneurship.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designing and delivering high quality quarterly research publications.
  • Working with the director to execute media campaigns to launch each publication.
  • Disseminating publications to politicans, government officials and other influencers.
  • Raising the profile of the Centre through written outputs including blogs and OpEds.
  • Developing data-driven partnerships to aid in research activities.
  • Developing research streams in partnership with expert bodies to deliver joint publications and events.
  • Managing report launches, roundtables, panel debates and other research-centric events.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Active interest in entrepreneurship and an understanding of entrepreneurship policies and the organisations supporting and promoting entrepreneurs.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to write in a clear, concise and engaging manner for various audiences.

Closing Date: 7 August 2014
